[Editorial] Debate note: this faṣl is the Ḥanafī base for reading the Qurʾān's masculine plurals as including women (e.g. in the commands of worship). It is not available in this project's primary witnesses (T and the ʿIlmiyya copy), so cite it by the Asfār pagination.
[Editorial] Debate note (bāb): most intra-Ḥanafī splits here turn on one question: when does a particle's literal sense give way to a figure? Abū Ḥanīfa often holds to the literal (wāw in B6.02–B6.03, ʿalā in B6.11), but not always: he works the figure where the Ṣāḥibān do not in B6.08 (slave and animal) and B6.13 ("in tomorrow"). The Ṣāḥibān often read by purpose (exchange, joint effect). Sarakhsī corrects "some shaykhs" four times: on wāw (B6.01), wāw between sentences (B6.03), fāʾ (B6.04) and aw (B6.08).
