Baqa'i explains why he wrote the book. It is the third and last part of his series, after one book on tracing hadiths to their sources and one on studying chains. His main claim: these methods grew out of the Qur'an, the Sunna and the practice of the early Muslims, so they are homegrown, not borrowed.
